Peru Environmental Issues:

Soil erosion due to overgrazing is a problem on the slopes of the coastal and mountain areas. Illegal logging has contributed to deforestation of the country. Desertification of the land and overfishing of the waters are also matters of concern. In addition, the country's rivers and coastal waters are polluted from municipal and mining wastes, and the capital city of Lima experiences some of the worst air pollution in Latin America.
